Description
A shield I painted in the Norman style...using it for a promotional shoot for a meadery this weekend. will still probably line it in leather and maybe make it into a table?

Norman?
I'm getting nothing even vaguely Norman from it for all sorts of reasons:-
1) Shape negative. I'd associate Norman shields with "long kites" tapering to stop below the knee, or "Hollywood jousting" (should surely be tilting?) shields.
2) Design negative - I'd also associate Norman shields with the rise of bearing one's arms as a shield device, and your design would never pass the College of Arms.
3) Shape positive - This would work as a Norse (or indeed Scots or Irish) warrior shield or targe.
4) Design positive - The design looks very Celtic with the repeat pattern round the rim, in particular the animals look like some of the brieves from the Book of Kells, which again suggests a Scots or Irish origin.
